Privacy Policy: How LEON Bet New Zealand Handles Your Personal Information
A betting account involves your identity documents, your payment history and records of how you play. We treat that information as something entrusted to us, and the aim of this policy is to show you exactly what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. For players in New Zealand, the framework we follow is the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).
The short version: we collect what is needed to run a regulated gambling account, we do not sell personal data, we do not store your bank card details, and you can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time, subject to the legal retention rules explained below.
Information We Collect
We collect personal information directly from you and from the way you use the service. Each category is listed here so nothing is left vague.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity | Full name, date of birth, account number |
| Contact | Email address, phone number, city and postal address |
| Financial | Account currency, deposits, withdrawals, payment method used, balance and bonus history |
| Verification (KYC) | Copy or photo of your national ID card, passport or driving licence; proof of address; confirmation that a payment method belongs to you |
| Technical | IP address, device and browser type, session and login data, cookies |
| Usage | Bets placed, games played, limits you set, messages to customer support |
Why We Collect It
Under IPP 1, we only collect information for a lawful purpose connected with our services. The reasons fall into four groups, and it matters which is which, because only one of them is optional.
- Running your account (contract). Identity, contact, financial and usage data are needed to open your account, process payments, settle bets and provide support.
- Legal obligations (mandatory). Verification documents and transaction records are required for anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) checks, age verification and checks on the origin of funds. You cannot opt out of these while you hold an account.
- Protecting players and the platform (legitimate interest). Technical and usage data help us detect fraud, linked accounts, bonus abuse and unusual transactions, and improve how the site works.
- Marketing (consent, optional). We may send newsletters, news and offers by email or SMS. You can refuse these and unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time in your account settings.
Transfers Outside New Zealand
The operator, Jade Reef Ventures Corp., is registered in Belize, its appointed payment agent is based in Cyprus, and the platform is licensed in Anjouan, Union of Comoros, so your information may be processed outside New Zealand. The operator has not published the specific locations where personal information is processed.
IPP 12 deals with disclosing personal information to people or organisations overseas. In line with it, we send information abroad only for the purposes described in this policy, and we expect recipients to protect it to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020. If you would like to know which countries are involved in processing your information, ask our support team.
Your Rights and How to Use Them
The Privacy Act gives you clear rights over your information. Here is how to exercise each one in practice.
- Access (IPP 6). You can ask for a copy of the personal information held about you by writing to [email protected]. The Privacy Act requires an agency to check the identity of the person asking before releasing information, and sets 20 working days for a decision on an access request.
- Correction (IPP 7). You can ask for incorrect information to be corrected by writing to [email protected]. You are also responsible for telling us about changes to your personal or financial details, such as a change of address, bank or e-wallet account.
- Deletion. You can close your account at any time by sending a written request by email; before closure, the balance is cleared under the standard withdrawal policy. Personal data is not kept longer than necessary for its purpose, but records covered by AML and other legal retention duties are kept until that period ends, so closing an account does not mean every record is erased immediately. A separate procedure for data deletion requests has not been published yet; until it is, send such requests to [email protected].
- Opting out of marketing. Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time in your account settings.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) at privacy.org.nz. The OPC is New Zealand's independent privacy regulator. It can look into privacy complaints, but it does not license or approve this gambling service.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for, in line with IPP 9. In practice:
- Active accounts: information is kept while your account is open.
- AML and KYC records: identity documents, verification results and transaction records are kept for the period required by the AML rules that apply to the operator. International AML standards (FATF Recommendation 11) set this minimum at five years after the business relationship ends or after the transaction. These records stay after you close your account and cannot be deleted early on request.
- Dormant accounts: an account with no activity for 12 months is not deleted automatically; the balance and records are kept so you can reactivate it.
- Marketing preferences: once you opt out, we stop using your details for marketing.
Cookies and Tracking
Our websites use HTTP cookies for three purposes:
| Type | Purpose | Can you refuse it? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeping you logged in, authenticating you on our servers and processing account instructions | No, the site cannot work without them |
| Preference | Remembering your preferred language | Yes, through browser settings |
| Performance | Analysing site traffic to find trends and improve the site | Yes, through browser settings |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies will stop you from logging in. Any cookies used for marketing purposes are non-essential, and you can refuse them in the same way.
How We Protect Your Data
- Encryption in transit: personal information sent over the internet uses encrypted connections.
- Access controls: access to sensitive stored data is restricted through technical and operational controls.
- Password protection: account passwords are stored using cryptographic hash functions, so they are not kept in readable form.
- One session at a time: multiple sessions are not supported, so logging in again closes the previous session after you confirm.
- No card storage: we do not store your bank card details.
You can add to this protection. Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, turn on two-factor authentication for the email account linked to your profile, never share your login details, log out on shared devices, and be careful with messages asking for your password. Contact support straight away if you notice activity you do not recognise.
Protection of Minors
The service is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or hold personal information about anyone under 18, and age is checked during verification. If we find that an account belongs to a minor, it is suspended immediately and the net amount deposited is refunded to the original payment method. We keep only the records needed to complete that process and meet our legal obligations.
