Responsible Gambling at LEON Bet New Zealand: Limits, Breaks and Free Support

Gambling should stay a form of entertainment you choose, at a cost you have decided in advance. For most people it stays that way. For some, it slowly starts to take more time, money or attention than intended. This page explains the controls built into your account, how to check in with yourself honestly, and where to find free, confidential help in New Zealand, from us or from independent services.

You must be 18 or over to open an account and play. Routine identity checks are part of how we verify age, and accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are suspended.

Our Approach to Player Safety

Responsible gambling is part of how the platform works, not a notice added at the bottom of a page. Our policy is an appendix to the general terms, so the limits and exclusions described below carry the same weight as any other rule on your account. Our staff receive responsible gambling training, and if we see indications of a gambling problem we may temporarily limit an account or start self-exclusion to protect the player.

We are also clear about the risks. Gambling is not a way to earn income, and you can lose some or all of the money you wager. Chasing losses, playing for long sessions without breaks or betting money set aside for bills can affect your finances, your health and your relationships.

Self-Assessment: Checking In With Yourself

There is no single test that tells you whether gambling has become a problem, and this list is not a diagnosis. It is a way to pause and look at your habits calmly. Think about the last few months:

  • Do you spend more money or time on gambling than you planned to?
  • Have you tried to win back money you lost by playing again?
  • Have you borrowed money, used savings or put off paying bills to gamble?
  • Do you feel restless, irritable or low when you try to cut down?
  • Have you hidden how much you gamble from family, friends or your partner?
  • Does gambling get in the way of work, study, sleep or time with people close to you?
  • Do you gamble to escape stress, boredom or worry?

If you answered yes to one or more of these, it does not mean something is wrong with you. It is a good reason to set limits now, take a break, or have a confidential conversation with a counsellor. The same questions are useful if you are worried about someone else.

The Control Tools in Your Account

Your account profile contains the following tools.

Tool What it does Period options
Deposit limit Caps how much you can add to your account Daily, weekly or monthly
Wagering limit Caps the total amount you can bet Daily, weekly or monthly
Temporary self-exclusion Stops deposits completely for a fixed break Six months
Permanent self-exclusion Stops deposits for good and bars further play Indefinite

After registration, both deposit and wagering limits are set to "none", so nothing is restricted until you choose a figure.

Session time limits and reality-check reminders are not part of the account tools described in our policy. If keeping track of time is your main concern, set a timer on your phone before you start, take regular breaks, and use a wagering limit to cap each day's play. Our support team can also talk you through the options available on your account.

How to Set or Change a Limit

  1. Log in and open your account profile.
  2. Choose Manage deposit limits or Manage wagering limits.
  3. Select the period (daily, weekly or monthly) and enter your amount.
  4. Click Apply.

Lowering a limit takes effect immediately once you click Apply. Raising or removing a limit works differently: you cannot ask for a deposit or wagering limit to be lifted before the end of its effective period.

Self-Exclusion: Taking a Real Break

When limits are not enough, self-exclusion blocks you from gambling on the platform.

  • Temporary self-exclusion (six months). On the Manage deposit limits page, set your deposit limit to 0 for six months. The system will not let you lift it until the six-month period has ended.
  • Permanent self-exclusion. Set the 0 deposit limit indefinitely. This bars you from playing on our website permanently.
  • By written request. If you prefer, send a written notice to our support team and we will act on it right away.

Self-exclusion is an account-level control. It is applied and enforced through our own systems under our licence, and it is not connected to any government-run national register in New Zealand. Because it works across your account, keep in mind that the rules allow only one account per player, so opening another account to get around an exclusion is not permitted.

Blocking software. Independent tools such as Gamban and BetBlocker restrict access to gambling websites and apps on your phone, tablet or computer. Used together with self-exclusion, they add a second layer of protection on every device you own.

Protecting young people. If children share your devices, parental control and filtering software can stop them from reaching gambling sites.

Our Licence and Who Oversees It

The responsible gambling measures on this page are set out in Appendix 4 to the operator's general terms. The service operates under Licence No. ALSI-202410001-FI1 issued by the Government of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, Union of Comoros. This licence is not a New Zealand licence, and New Zealand authorities do not supervise the service.

If you have a concern about how a responsible gambling matter was handled, you can raise a complaint with our support team. These complaints are acknowledged within 2 business days, and we aim to resolve them within 5 business days.
